What happens after import?
How to download your Kotak Neo Gain & Loss Statement.
Sign in to Kotak Neo
Open the Kotak Neo web platform or app and sign in to the Kotak Securities trading account whose historical transactions you want to journal.
Open Reports & Statements
On Neo Web, open Profile → Reports. In the Kotak trading app, use More → Tools & Resources → Reports & Statements.
Choose Gain & Loss Statement
Open Gain & Loss Statement, select the required financial year and transaction type, then generate the transaction-wise report.
Download the Excel report
Kotak Neo provides Excel and PDF download options. Use the original Excel file for QbarTrade import and keep its worksheets, headers and columns unchanged.
Use Gain & Loss Statement. Open Profile → Reports → Gain & Loss Statement on Neo Web, or More → Tools & Resources → Reports & Statements in the Kotak trading app.
Choose Excel, not PDF. The official report supports both formats. Keep the downloaded Excel workbook unchanged so QbarTrade can map the transaction-wise rows accurately.
Upload and validate your Kotak Securities trades.
Follow these 12 steps inside QbarTrade to transform Kotak Neo transaction-wise Gain & Loss rows into a clean, reviewable trading journal.
Open Trades
From the QbarTrade sidebar, open Trades.
Open the import menu
Use the three-dot menu beside the Add button and select Import trades.
Add the Kotak Neo Excel file
Select Add file and upload the original Gain & Loss Statement Excel file downloaded from Kotak Neo.
Assign the broker account
Select the Kotak Securities broker account that produced the statement. This keeps broker-specific trades and analytics organised correctly.
Review the mapped rows
QbarTrade displays the mapped transactions before final import. Review the instrument or contract, side, quantity, segment, entry, exit, duration, stop-loss, P&L and strategy fields.
Resolve validation warnings
Rows may be marked valid, invalid, needs broker or needs instrument. Correct missing information or remove rows that do not represent usable trade transactions.
Remove report-only rows
Delete report headings, totals, blank rows, disclaimers or any statement content that is not an actual trade record.
Merge related executions
Select related transactions and use Merge when several entries and exits belong to one completed trading idea. QbarTrade can preserve the individual legs inside the combined round-trip.
Edit trade details
Use the edit action to correct the instrument or contract and add the broker account, strategy, notes, stop-loss price, charges or taxes where required.
Save the changes
Save the edited row after confirming that the corrected transaction information is accurate.
Confirm the import
When the valid rows are ready, select Confirm & Import to add them to the QbarTrade trading journal.
Review imported trades
Return to the Trades page and use the All filter to review imported open and closed trades.
Turn execution rows into reviewable trades.
Validate transaction rows
Review which statement rows contain usable trade data and identify rows that require broker or instrument information.
Connect executions into round-trips
Combine related entries, additions, reductions and exits so the complete position can be reviewed as one trading outcome.
Preserve individual trade legs
The completed round-trip can retain its underlying fills, helping you understand how the position was built, adjusted and closed.
Add strategy context
Assign a strategy so later analysis can compare outcomes across your repeated trading setups.
Add risk and cost details
Add stop-loss, brokerage, charges or taxes where required so the journal reflects more than gross price movement.
Analyse performance
Evaluate Net P&L, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average R multiple, maximum drawdown, equity curve, daily net P&L, average win, average loss, streaks, weekday performance and top traded symbols.
One trading idea can contain several Kotak Securities transactions.
A position may include multiple entries, additions, partial exits and a final close. These can appear as separate transaction rows in the Gain & Loss Statement. QbarTrade lets related rows be combined into one round-trip while preserving the underlying legs for audit and review.
Round-Trip Example
Common Kotak Neo Gain & Loss import issues.
A PDF was uploaded instead of Excel
Kotak Neo provides both Excel and PDF options for the Gain & Loss Statement. Use the original Excel file because a PDF does not preserve spreadsheet rows and columns for structured import.
The wrong Kotak Neo report was selected
Use Gain & Loss Statement for the transaction-wise financial-year report. A ledger, DP transaction report, holdings statement or Bill-cum-Transaction report serves a different record-keeping purpose.
A contract note was uploaded
Kotak Neo contract notes provide official daily trade-level and charge details, but the revised format is password-protected PDF. Use the Excel Gain & Loss Statement for import and the contract note for reconciliation.
Some historical transactions are missing
Check the selected financial year and transaction type. Download additional Gain & Loss statements when your history spans multiple financial years or different transaction categories.
The P&L does not match Kotak Neo
Check the financial year, transaction type, open versus closed positions, gross versus net P&L, charges, taxes and whether all related entries and exits have been included and merged correctly.
An instrument or contract is not linked
Search for and select the correct NSE, BSE, futures, options or commodity instrument. Unlinked rows may have limited chart or analytics functionality.
Summary or total rows were imported
Remove headings, totals and other report-only lines during QbarTrade validation before confirming the final import.
Scale-in trades appear separately
Select only the transactions that belong to the same completed position and use Merge to create one round-trip.
A row has the wrong strategy
Open the row editor and assign the strategy that accurately represents the original trading setup.
A Gain & Loss Statement records results. A journal explains performance.
