Groww Trading Journal: Auto-Sync Trades & Track MTF Interest

Connect Groww and QbarTrade imports every executed order automatically — then does the part Groww doesn't: it identifies your MTF positions, accrues the funding interest at the slab rate that actually applied, and subtracts the full charge stack. You review your real, after-cost edge instead of a gross number.

Two ways to get your Groww trades into QbarTrade

Connect the account for live sync, or upload a Groww statement — and you can use both together, which is what most people end up doing: import once to backfill history, then connect so you never touch it again.

Method 1 — Connect for automatic sync

  1. Sign in to QbarTrade and open Broker Connect.
  2. Select Groww and authorise the read-only connection.
  3. QbarTrade pulls your order history and backfills your existing trades.
  4. Every executed order syncs automatically from then on — MTF trades identified for you.

That's the whole setup. No daily export, no column mapping, and no evening spent reconciling a spreadsheet you'll abandon by month three.

Method 2 — Import your Groww statement

  1. In Groww, open your reports / statements section.
  2. Download your tradebook or P&L statement for the period you want.
  3. In QbarTrade, go to Import → Groww and upload the file.
  4. Columns map automatically, option legs group themselves, and trades merge with anything already synced — no duplicates.

This is how you bring in history from before you signed up. Exact menu labels vary as Groww updates the app — look for Reports or Statements.

Groww MTF: the slab rate most first-timers never check

The problem

Why Groww's funding cost is easy to miss

Groww's MTF interest isn't a single flat number — it's tiered. Above a certain funded amount the rate steps down, which means your effective cost per rupee depends on how large the position is, and two otherwise-identical trades can be funded at different rates. Groww also has the newest, most mobile-first trading base in India, so a large share of these are first-time MTF users who have never watched a funding debit hit their ledger — days after the trade, on a separate line, never joined to the position's P&L. The gain shows on one screen; the cost shows on another.

What QbarTrade does

It tags every position with the rate that actually applied

QbarTrade identifies each Groww MTF trade automatically, then accrues the funding at the rate actually in force for that position— daily, against the trade it belongs to — and reports P&L net of it, alongside brokerage, STT, exchange fees, GST and stamp duty. So whether a position sat above or below the slab threshold, the number you review is the real one, not a gross figure you still have to discount in your head.

Your MTF win rate, expectancy and R-multiple are computed after funding cost — not before it.

Built for how you actually trade on Groww

New to MTF

Groww brought a huge new cohort into the market, and many are taking their first funded positions here. QbarTrade makes the part the app hides visible from day one — the interest debited separately, tied back to the exact trade that caused it, so your first MTF review is an honest one.

Swing traders

A multi-day Groww position carries its plan with it — entry logic, stop, target, R:R — and its funding cost too. When it closes, you review the trade against the plan you wrote and the interest you actually paid, not a P&L number you decide, retroactively, that you knew.

Swing trading journal →

Options traders

Legs from your Groww order book arrive grouped into one strategy with strikes, expiry and net premium intact — a short strangle is one trade, not four rows you join by hand. Tag it by type and see which structures actually pay you, by expiry week.

Everyone: strategy tags & discipline

Custom strategy tags turn a year of scattered Groww fills into three answers: which setup makes money, which one you keep running despite the numbers, and which rule you break most often. Discipline is what happens when breaking your own rule becomes visible in a report you read weekly.

Groww is genuinely good at what it's for: fast, simple execution and clean statements. It records what you traded. It was never built to record why — or to join your funding cost to the trade.

The Planner: never miss a breakout or an indicator trigger

Groww gives you execution. What it doesn't give you is something that watches your setups for you. QbarTrade's Planner does — you mark the levels and conditions that matter before the session, and it alerts you the moment one is hit, so an opportunity you did the work for doesn't slip past while you're on another chart.

Breakout alerts

Mark a support or resistance level and get alerted the moment price breaks it — no staring at the screen all day.

Indicator triggers

Set conditions on RSI, EMA, MACD or VWAP and let the Planner watch them across your watchlist for you.

Timestamped plans

Every level is logged before it triggers, so “I would have taken that” becomes something you can actually verify.

  • RSI
  • EMA
  • MACD
  • VWAP
  • Support
  • Resistance
  • Breakout

It helps swing traders catch the breakout, options and futures traders time the entry, and MTF traders act on a plan instead of a hunch — every trigger you set gets watched, and you get pinged when it hits.

Notes for Groww accounts

Groww brought a huge new cohort of Indians into the market, and it shows in how MTF is used here: many Groww traders are taking leveraged positions for the first time. The single most common surprise is the funding cost itself — it doesn't reduce the position P&L you see in the app; it lands separately on your ledger, often days after you've closed the trade. By then the position feels done, and the interest quietly goes untracked.

The second surprise is that Groww's MTF rate is tiered, not flat. Because the rate steps down above a funding threshold, the cost of the same strategy can differ purely by position size — something almost nobody checks in advance. QbarTrade is built to make both visible: every funded position is tagged with the rate that actually applied and the interest accrued against it, so your real, after-cost return is the number you review — not a gross figure you still have to discount in your head.

Frequently asked questions

Does Groww have a built-in trading journal?

Groww shows your holdings, order history and P&L, and lets you download statements for reconciliation and tax. But it records what you traded, not why — and it never joins your MTF funding cost to the trade that caused it. QbarTrade adds that layer on top of Groww's data.

Can I sync my Groww trades automatically?

Yes. Connect Groww to QbarTrade with a read-only connection and it imports your executed orders automatically — so you're not exporting a statement by hand every week or re-typing it into a spreadsheet.

Does Groww offer MTF, and does QbarTrade track the interest?

Yes. Groww offers Margin Trade Funding on eligible stocks, and its interest is tiered rather than flat — the rate steps down above a funding threshold. QbarTrade identifies MTF trades automatically and accrues the interest at the rate actually in force, daily, against the position it belongs to.

Why do two similar Groww MTF trades show different interest?

Because Groww's MTF rate is slab-based: above a certain funded amount the rate steps down. So the same strategy can carry a different effective cost purely because of position size. QbarTrade tags each position with the rate that actually applied, so you can see it rather than guess.

How do I import my Groww trades or download my P&L?

Download your trade or P&L statement from Groww's reports/statements section and upload it to QbarTrade — or connect the account for automatic sync. The import backfills your history and merges with synced trades without duplicates.

Can I journal my Groww F&O and options trades automatically?

Yes. QbarTrade imports F&O and options trades, groups multi-leg strategies into a single trade, and carries lot size through — so win rate, R-multiple and expectancy are calculated at strategy level rather than per leg.

Is connecting Groww to QbarTrade safe?

The connection is read-only and revocable from your Groww account at any time. QbarTrade never places orders and never holds funds — you execute in Groww, and QbarTrade syncs the result back for planning, journaling and analytics.

Can I journal trades from more than one broker?

Yes. Multiple broker accounts roll into one view of capital, P&L and risk — which matters, because most active traders run more than one account while their capital is really one balance sheet.
